Clean room

We’ve begun work on the inside of the playhouse.  The two cedar trunks are going to hold up a table.

On June 18th the kids helped paint some interior walls.  Alice painted defiantly.

I built a dust separator for the shop vacuum out of some buckets.

The kids have been practicing their Jedi training (if Gryphon eats seven consecutive dinners, he earns another Star Wars movie).

On June 22nd we all helped clean Gryphon’s room.  We even moved the bed out in preparation for a new wall-mounted variety.

Meowmers and Snuggle love the couch as much as we do.

Low tide

We visited Tongue Point during low tide on June 16th.  We saw a lot of good tide pools, but no starfish, due to the mysterious “wasting syndrome” that has hit the coast.

Painting the playhouse

The playhouse got a ramp back on June 10th.  I visited Gryphon’s classroom for the last time on the 11th, this time to make pancakes.

On the 14th we met up with our Willamette friend Beth and her two daughters at Chestnut Cottage for brunch.

The playhouse got its first paint later that day.

Alice wasn’t feeling well so she rested inside.

Portland trip

I got to give a demo at a do-it-yourself pancake restaurant called Slappy Cakes on June 7th.  Our college friend Ami showed up with his new baby.

My friend Shawn and his girlfriend Kris were there too.  They got engaged later that day, maybe due to the pancakes.  The owners were nice – maybe I’ll do it again someday.

We played in Laurelhurst park for a little while afterward.

And then it was time to visit the Cornetts and their neighborhood pool.

We had a tasty dinner with the Cunninghams at Jade Teahouse, though Gryphon and Alice were more or less exhausted by then.

The next morning we made a Value Village run to stock up on kids’ clothes.  Snuggle got a pillow.

We visited with Cheri’s grandparents before filling up with Indian food and heading home.

About an hour outside of Port Angeles we stopped at the Jamestown S’Klallam tribal center, which was closed but still had nice art to check out.
