Gryphon and I made some pies this weekend.

Family fun

We took a trip to Mt. Scott park on Wednesday, which is more fun now that Gryphon is semi-autonomous.

The Saturday market was fun too.

August highlights

Pickling

Gryphon helped clear out a planter in preparation for tomorrow's paint removal. We harvested the cucumbers, which had ballooned with all the rain lately.

Following randomly selected directions from the internet, I filled 10 half-pint jars with "refrigerator pickles," which should be ready in a week. I also made 2 jars of pickled magical baby carrots.

Pirate Festival!

Yesterday Ben and Jude invited us to the traditional pirate festival, and sent some educational material our way.


This time we went on the big inflated slides, and the weather held out a bit longer than last year.



That night Cheri's parents took us to Namaste to celebrate anniversary #6!

Nesting

I was surprised to come upon Cheri cleaning out the bathroom cupboards the other day. "What are you doing?" I asked. "I'm nesting!" was the reply. I looked around the bathroom. "So it appears."

Ready to go

We've packed our hospital bags and are nearly ready to go... Thursday will mark 37 weeks!
Gryphon woke us up at 4am singing, "I've been working on the railroad..." before falling back to sleep.

Bye bye bye

Gryphon's pacifier (what he called a "bye") is no more. He's adjusting slowly.

We had lunch with Cheri's parents, grandparents, Jared and Alyson, and I tested out my fake Slip-and-Slide (with a roll of plastic from Value Village)...

It didn't work at all.

End of summer

We've been making pancakes every morning for awhile.

We took ice cream sandwiches to Jonah's last night.

Digging

Gryphon and I hung out with Ben and Jude in the Children's Museum this morning. As Ben rushed from one exhibit to the next, he remarked, "I'm trying to instill a sense of..." "Urgency?" I suggested. "ADHD," he corrected. They had to leave, but we stayed for 3 hours.

Rafting

Gryphon and I joined fellow teachers Julie and Luanna on the Clackamas River this morning.


Gryphon ate the traditional bananas.


We've finished rearranging Gryphon's room in preparation for his new roommate. During Gryphon's second night in the "big boy bed," we heard a loud clunk about an hour after he went to sleep. We waited a few seconds, then found him on the floor, still asleep.
