Music festival

We’ve been having more park weather, and took a picnic to Dream Playground on the 18th.

We raided the recycle bin for this dragon mask one afternoon.

Meowmers has been helping Gryphon through a cold lately.  I got to do another book cover for Mark.

This weekend we checked out the Juan de Fuca Festival of the Arts.  The kids were more interested in the delicious treats than music this time though.

We’ve had a nice wildlife show over the last 24 hours.

A woodpecker and black-headed grosbeak joined the Bird Show today.

And Cheri found this snake while we were weeding this morning.

Our thistle garden is coming along.

Nettles again

Some grandparents showed up on the 10th – we fed them nettle pie* and they took care of our kids.

They mowed the lawn too.

We had breakfast at Haven on Mothers Day.

Looking at the neighbors’ horses reminded us of our own large animal.

Meowmers always helps when you don’t  feel well.

Alice got into the nettles as we were clearing our garden area, but the baking soda helped her out.

*And here’s the nettle soup recipe!

Canoeing

Teacher Sarah arranged a Mothers’ Tea on the 6th, and Cheri was able to partake of the festivities during her lunch break.

At home the kids and I had a second tea party.

Cheri was off work on the 7th, and Gryphon wanted to go on an adventure.  So we rented a canoe at nearby Lake Crescent and brushed up on our paddling.

We had a picnic lunch at Beach of the Pirate Tunnel.

Nettle soup

Gryphon arranged an egg hunt for Alice earlier this month.

We’re not growing anything in the garden – except a lot of nettles.  Cheri looked up some recipes and made us some tasty soup.  They don’t sting once they’re boiled, but until then it’s pretty exciting.

The kids got a 3D Magic Treehouse pancake on the 4th.  It was crunchy but well-received.

We made this year’s first trip to Dream Playground since it’s warming up.
