Snuggle

At the beginning of the month we realized we should have been weeding the area we’re planning to build a greenhouse.  Gryphon got a coupon for a free ice cream cone for having done all his kindergarten homework.

  
I helped Gryphon’s class with math for the last time on the 3rd.
 
Then we got a dog from the nearby Humane Society.  We were discussing names, when Gryphon added, “The thing is, I’m going to call him Snuggle.”  He gets along well with Meowmers and is already potty-trained, which is more than our kids can claim.
 
On the 4th I stayed up late to make a pancake portrait of a Japanese talk show host – you know, the usual.  We headed to Portland for a few days on the 6th.
  

Marymere Falls

 
On May 31st we headed out for an adventure.  Half an hour later we found ourselves hiking to Marymere Falls, and were pleasantly surprised by the kids’ endurance.

Gryphon has had mixed emotions about T-ball so far.  His first “game” was on the 21st.
 
He may have enjoyed the playground afterward more.
 
 
We’ve had a swallow turn up in our woodstove on a few occasions (apparently unharmed), so I finally put some mesh around the top of the chimney.
 
We couldn’t find Alice for a few minutes on the 22nd, then discovered her asleep behind some tubs under her table. 
 
On the 24th we made a pancake tutorial:

  
On the 27th, Cheri and I decided we should have dealt with the weeds growing in the spot we cleared for a greenhouse earlier.
  

Playhouse

We’ve been playing at Dream Playground alto lately, before, during, and after Gryphon’s T-ball practices. Then we come home and play some more.  
 
On the 16th we learned why they’re called strawberries.  On the 18th we cooked slugs.
 
Well, I made slugs – Gryphon made a Darth Vader mask above  crossed light sabers.
 
Gryphon and I went down the road to Ember’s camping-themed birthday party later that day.
 
 
Gryphon lost his first tooth while eating Cheerios on the 19th.  The playhouse got some windows and a roof.
 
The garden is growing stuff.

On the 20th the playhouse received a stained glass window that Cheri had made.
 
On the 21st Gryphon got to pet a horse at school.  I just pet Meowmers.
