Pool

Cheri got this pool on June 30th.  It was a little cold at first.

Gryphon made a portait of Nanna and Dar Dar on the window.

Rope Land has used up all our rope now.

Microscope

A microscope showed up on our doorstep at the end of June (I have a vague memory of late night impulse shopping).  We wasted no time putting it to work comparing hair thickness, and Gryphon recorded the results.

He named the creatures we found in our sample of ocean water.

We’ve been making use of the elementary school playground across the street.  Gryphon’s legs testify to the fun he’s been having.

On the 28th Nanna and Dar Dar took the kids to Mexican food and the beach while Cheri and I were at a tasty dinner the hospital put on (the highlight was the teenage band).

The next day we headed to Salt Creek, where Gryphon and I lounged in some warm “mud tubs” until the tide started coming in.

We checked out a new beach nearby on June 22nd.

Rope Land got a few more ropes added to it later that day.

The garage is coming along – I textured and painted one wall.

Alice enjoyed her first artichoke on the 24th.

Meanwhile, Gryphon drew “Burnside’s self portrait” and fell asleep to his pirate CD.

Marine lab

On June 18th I put up a budget ropes course for the children.  It proved popular.

On the 20th I chaperoned a preschool trip to the “marine lab” on the pier.

“I liked looking at all those starfish and touching the sea cucumber.”-Gryphon

We told the kids we’d eat out more frequently if they were better behaved.  Then we took them to Tendy’s for Chinese – they did pretty well.

For dessert they got fortune cookies and a trip to Dream Playground.
