Packing up

We’ve steadily been paring down our list of things to do before flying out Tuesday morning.  Unlike the trip here, where we checked 8 suitcases, we’re allowed only 4 on the way back (but we’ll have to pay to take one extra).  Isaiah Dongcar has been sold, along with a lot of children’s things, and we arranged to cancel our internet, phone, electricity and mailbox.  We mailed 10 boxes home.  But we’ve still found time for pancakes.

I dismantled my art table.  Gryphon and Alice helped in their own way.

I fit in two last games of Ultimate on Wednesday (in the rain, pleasantly) and Friday, and gave away a lot of our kitchen cupboards’ contents there.  Sarah and Violet joined us for dinner last night after a trip to the massage parlor with Cheri.
This morning, people came by to pick up most of the stuff we sold.  The rest will leave this evening.
Alice has had some good sleeps in her Pack ‘n Play over the last 9 months.

Beach party

Cheri’s pediatrician friend Brian Sullivan and his family had a party at Wing Beach before their departure for a new life Central America.

There were a lot of familiar faces there, like Georgia and Clementine (below left)

Gryphon was happy to see Teacher Rita again, and spent a lot of time lounging in the water next to her.

We couldn’t miss our last chance at the Taste of India buffet.

Last day of school

Friday was Gryphon’s last day at Brilliant Star.  I took a picture from the bench where I usually wait for him to come out.

Saturday I found myself doing a pancake demo at the Joeten Susupe grocery store.  I forgot to bring my own nonstick pan, so they didn’t come out as nice as usual, but people seemed to like them anyway.

Cheri saw some familiar nurses and new mothers, I ran into several frisbee players, and Gryphon even found his friend Raphael there.

Shells

We had Obyan Beach to ourselves Thursday evening.  Gryphon and Alice baked a cake in the tide pools…

Cheri collected shells… and I struggled to avoid being smashed on the reef while snorkeling.

Goodbye, Thai House

As Tropical Depression 03W makes its way past Guam, the nonstop rain put us in the mood for some spicy food.  First we made a stop at the Tuesday market for the last time, picking up tomatoes, avocados, tangerines, pineapple, and coconut water.  At Thai House we said goodbye to our friend, Felix, and owner Jack.

Meanwhile, the pancakes made it into Financial Times Deutschland.
